Plant Power

National Geographic’s article, Splitting Water Molecules the Next “Green” Power Source?, is a fascinating read on how plant’s use energy from the sun (photosynthesis) to split water into oxygen (released into the air for our benefit, yeah!) and hydrogen which plants use to do their thing.

Interesting fact of the day: “An hour of sunlight falling on Earth equals all the energy that humans use on average in a year.”

Another interesting fact of the day: “the most efficient plastic solar cells on today’s market convert only 6 percent of sunlight into usable energy. ”

You’ve learned enough today, carry on.
